Massive victory for BJP in Odisha Panchayat Polls, Congress decimated completely !
In the first phase of the panchayat polls in Odisha, the BJP posted a stunning performance by giving the BJD a run for its money decimating Congress pushing it into the third place. The BJD which is a strong local party won 103 zilla parishad seats with the BJP coming in a strong second at 73 seats. The Congress was at the third spot with a paltry 7 seats, hence losing its grip over another state at the rural level. In the last panchayat election Congress was at the second spot.

The significance of this performance by the BJP cannot be kept restricted to mere numbers. It’s imperative to note that the BJD is one of those few parties in the country that remained unaffected by the ‘Modi wave’ of 2014. Out of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha, the BJD won 20 of those with the BJP just being able to get one. This goes to show how difficult it is for any party to make inroads into the state.

Still four more rounds of polling remain till the 19th of February the BJP will have improved its performance in comparison to the 2012 panchayat polls in an unprecedented fashion. In 2012, the BJP won just 36 of the 854 zillaparishad seats, but this time it has already doubled that number in just the first phase!

First of all, credit for the success of the party has to be attributed to Dr. Dharmendra Pradhan who spearheaded BJP’s campaign in the state. On the other hand, the BJD employed a number of film stars to campaign for a month.

Secondly, this unexpected performance can also be credited to Prime Minister Modi’s move of demonetisation which has garnered massive support amongst the lower classes.

Congress loses another state. It is expected that the party will perform poorly on an individual front in Uttar Pradesh, might lose Manipur; Uttarakhand as well. Recently, all 384 panchayat leaders of Arunachal Pradesh shifted to the BJP. One major state under the Congress rule is Karnataka which goes to polls next year it’s expected Congress will lose the state. Truly, we are on the verge of a Congress-mukt Bharat.

How Would BJP’s Haters React?

Liberals – Our liberals are busy campaigning against the BJP in every which way to affect the party’s performance in Uttar Pradesh. They are downplaying Akhilesh’s terrible governance record, & speaking as if it is the BJP who is on the verge of losing its existence & not the SP. They must truly be feeling cheated that while they work day-in day-out to ensure a SP win, BJP quietly goes & stamps its authority in Odisha. I feel for them, but this isn’t over yet, because these liberals are still in for a lot of heartburn in the next few days!

Presstitutes – They must be hiding in their closets because all their energy was focused on Uttar Pradesh & they didn’t even pay attention to what the ‘saffron party’ could achieve in Odisha. As they spread more & more rumours, the ‘saffron umbrella’ keeps on extending its reach. Who knows some of them might even have to be admitted in mental trauma centers because they’re rendered unemployed by an expanding BJP under their ‘favorite’ politician Narendra Modi!...........
