Uri terror attack: 17 soldiers dead in attack at Army base, terrorists neutralised
Seventeen soldiers were martyred in a dastardly terror attack early on Sunday when terrorists sneaked into the base and threw grenades before firing indiscriminately. The attack took place at an army administrative base in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri, near the Line of Control (LoC). All four terrorists were reprotedly taken down after a gruelling six hour gun battle. Combing operations are underway.
The Uri attack is one of the deadliest the Indian Army has faced in years. Earlier in January, seven military personnel were killed when six terrorists infiltrated the Pathankot air base, straining relations between India and the neighbouring Pakistan.
The army brigade in Uri is located intimately to the Line of Control (LoC). It is suspected that the attack wasfidayeen.It has been confirmed that a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) module was behind the attack which took place in Uri on Saturday. Seventeen jawans were killed in the attack. The injured persons have been rushed to the Army base hospital in Srinagar.Four terrorists, believed to be the total number, have been gunned down by the army inside the base. Personnels are sweeping the area for any signs of suspicious individuals.
